Innisfree Thoroughbreds is a lovely property situated at Pakenham South, which is south east of Melbourne, approximately 50 minutes from the CBD. Innisfree Thoroughbreds is owned and operated by Andy and Carol O’Shea, who came into the breeding industry in 1994 after successfully racing several good horses including the Group One winner Keltrice.
The district has the highest grade peat soils in Victoria and is highly sort after as premium farming land for dairy farming, cropping and market gardens. It is without doubt some of the best horse country in Victoria and the area is one of Victoria's best kept secrets.
Innisfree Thoroughbreds is situated on 158 acres of this magnificent country. The farm has mature cypress shelter belts and quality infrastructure with excellent new fencing, and shelters situated throughout the property.
The studmaster at Innisfree Thoroughbreds is the highly experienced and well respected Steve Allen. With an extensive background in stud management and in the breaking and education of young horses (as well as many years of experience in senior business management) prior to his time at Innisfree, Steve brings a wealth of knowledge to the Innisfree Thoroughbreds team. Steve is renowned for having the welfare of his horses at heart and he is well supported by a professional team of staff.
The stud is serviced by South Cranbourne Veterinary Hospital, with Dr Hugh Cathels being the attending vet.
Innisfree Thoroughbreds offers a full range of services - from the breeding barn to foaling down, through to yearling preparation and the sales ring. Innisfree also offers racehorse spelling and rehabilitation services.
