Lacryma Cristi

LACRYMA CRISTI: Belonged to Victorian Stallion Partnership from 1997 until his sale in 2004. He stood at Rangal Park Stud from 1997 – 2002 inclusive, & at Little Plains Stud in 2003. In 2004 Victorian Stallion Partnership sold Lacryma Cristi to Larneuk Stud but we have retained breeding rights in the horse and can provide bookings to him.
LACRYMA CRISTI is a brown horse, foaled in 1993, by Green Desert from L’Anno D’Oro by Habitat. Lacryma Cristi raced three times only . He had a win, and 2 thirds (all at 6f). TIMEFORM 1995 described him as a strong good sort, a good mover who won the Michael Tester Stakes in good fashion by 4 lens at his 2yo debut.

Sireline:
GREEN DESERT – An exceptionally talented sprinting son of Danzig, Green Desert was a Group One winner of the July Cup (6f). At stud Green Desert has proved a phenomenal success, his achievements inc Champion First Season sire UK 1990. Leading second season sire UK 1991. Leading third season sire UK 1992. Champion Sire (wins & winners) 1993. Champion Sire (wins & winners) 1994. Champion Sire (wins & winners) 1998.

Green Desert

To December '05 GREEN DESERT is the sire of 560 runners, 464 winners, 72 Stakeswinners of £27million. His early maturing, sound, tough sprinting / classic stock are ideal for Australian racing conditions, and he is starting to exert his influence on Australian racing through the immediate success of his sire sons which include Volksraad, Desert Sun, Cape Cross & Desert Prince. Volksraad was the '97 NZ Champion First Season sire & Champion 2YO Sire and has sired 37 SW including 7 individual Group One winners to date.

Desert Sun also quickly shot to prominence siring the sensational filly SUNLINE in his first crop, he is now the sire of 24 stakes winners of $31.7million. Cape Cross is currently sire of the brilliant NZ 3YO duo Seachange (unbeaten Group One winner) & Kindacross (Group One winner) as well as the outstanding Northern Hemisphere mare Ouija Board (2004 European Horse of the Year).

Danzig

Green Desert’s sire DANZIG is one of the worlds greatest ever sires. Although his own racetrack career was limited ( 3 minor wins, and a non SW himself) DANZIG has sired 769 runners, 620 winners (81 %), 183 stakes winners ( 24 % of his starters become stakeswinners.), 44 Group One winners. He has been Champion Sire in the USA on 3 occasions and his progeny earnings exceed $99,500,000. He has an incredible AEI of 5.17. As a broodmare sire he is already achieving great results – already his daughters have left 127 stakeswinners of $159million.

However it is as a sire of sires that DANZIG is particularly significant - his sire sons incl: Chief's Crown, Dayjur, Polish Precedent, Perugino, Belong To Me, Green Desert, & of course the freakish Danehill.

Damline:
L’ANNO D’ORO by Habitat.
L'ANNO d'ORO is a full sister to Habitat's greatest product, the great race mare HABIBTI - English Horse of The Year, European Champion Sprinter, Multiple Group1 Winner, 9 Wins, Timeform rated 136 (the Highest rated Female Sprinter in History ).

Eight Carat

L'ANNO d'ORO is a half sister to Australasia's Champion brood mare EIGHT CARAT - dam of 5 Group1 winners - Octagonal, Kaapstad, Our Marquise, Diamond Lover & Mouawad. EIGHT CARAT is also 2nd dam of Danewin (Multi Gr1 winner), Tristalove (Multi Gr1 Winner), Don Eduardo (Gr1 Classic winner), Shower Of Roses (Gr 1 winner), Peruzzi (Multi Gr Winner), & Antwerp (Multi SW). Eight Carat (twice NZ Brood mare of the Year ) is the only brood mare in Australasian Turf history to produce FIVE individual GR 1 winners. Another half sister Great Klaire is also responsible for a very strong branch of the family and, not to be outdone, their half brother Kreisler has been one of NZ's leading sires in recent seasons.

Stud record:
LACRYMA CRISTI retired to stud in 1997 and was an instant success. His very first runner Desert Angel became a Stakes Winner in the VATC Debutante Stakes at her first start. Desert Angel then ran a gallant second at Group level before tragically dying as a result of damage sustained in her second start.

Desert Angel

This talented filly unfortunately never had the opportunity to reach her full potential. Lacryma Cristi’s first crop also included the smart Val Gardena, dual Guineas winner Grey Desert, and the handy city performers Lightning Tears & Dream Beauty (both prolific winners). His second crop contained country Cup winner Just Cris, and from his third crop the outstanding NZ colt Alastro emerged. Alastro came to Australia for the $500,000 Inglis Premier at Flemington. Despite a chequered run throughout the race this colt’s storming finish caught the eye of all concerned when he ran a desperately unlucky third. Returning to NZ Alastro then ran a narrow second in the Group One Ellerslie Sires Produce. His talent resulted in his sale to Hong Kong for $1,000,000.

Lacryma Cristi

Lacryma Cristi continues to produce a steady stream of winners each week, developing into one of Victoria’s most prolific winner getters. His progeny are tough, sound and good natured, and while some of them are precocious early they are all training on later, many of them becoming successful at a middle distance or beyond.
Victorian Stallion Partnership has retained a lifelong association with Lacryma Cristi and can assist you with bookings to the horse. He currently stands at Larneuk Stud, Euroa, Victoria. His stud fee is negotiable on application.
